About the author
Originally from Texas, Jason Harris is a father, husband, IT Manager, and recently, a local indie author of a historical sci-fi novel, “Due North”.
He started his journey when his son was a sophomore at a local high school in Metro-Atlanta. Although his son shared his family’s passion for travel and exploration, he didn’t inherit Jason’s love for history. He recalls attempting to lure his son into watching, “The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross” (a new series at the time created by Henry Louis Gates Jr.) but he was not interested. Jason then began riffing a story about a time traveling superhero-like Conductor of the Underground Railroad. As he told the story of the negro slave using 21st Century tools, weapons, and fighting styles to assist slaves in their journey north, he realized he had him. Just for those four or five minutes he tapped into his son’s imagination and sparked curiosity into this important but sometimes difficult piece of US history. Equally important was what happened next. Jason took that moment and combined two of his passions, history, and storytelling. The result, “Due North” (available now through on-line book retailers) and the upcoming sequel, “A Traitor Amongst Us” (Due out in Spring 2024)
